SAPREC’s Festive Curios: Raising Funds, Raising Awareness

SAPREC (Seabird and Penguine Rehabilitation Centre) in Mossel Bay is launching a festive initiative to raise funds and highlight the importance of caring for seabirds and penguins, work they do so well in and around Mossel Bay.

SAPREC rescues, rehabilitates, and releases injured, sick, or abandoned seabirds and penguins, while also educating the community about the threats these birds face and the importance of protecting marine and coastal ecosystems.

With their Friends project, SAPREC is creating and selling curios to raise funds for the work that they do. Keyrings, laser-cut curios, bracelets, and scrap leather products are all being sold at their premises during the 2025 festive season. Any items remaining after the holiday rush will continue to be sold into 2026, enabling ongoing support for the center.

Funds raised will go directly towards the care of the birds, while the curios themselves provide a way for the community to connect with SAPREC’s work and advance their message.

We’re proud to support SAPREC and look forward to seeing how this initiative inspires festive giving while helping seabirds and penguins thrive.
