With support from the Friends of the Biosphere programme, the Great Brak River Conservancy is launching the Great Brak River Clean & Connect Awareness Initiative, a project aimed at reducing litter and strengthening environmental stewardship within Great Brack River area.
Litter entering the Great Brak River and its estuary remains an ongoing challenge, impacting both the health of the ecosystem and the broader community. This initiative takes a practical, people-centred approach by combining awareness, visibility, and local business involvement to encourage lasting behaviour change.
Funds will go towards the production of environmental awareness materials, including pamphlets, window stickers, and durable bin signage. These materials are designed to act as gentle but effective reminders, encouraging responsible waste disposal while also making conservation efforts more visible throughout the community.
Pamphlets will be distributed to local businesses to build stronger partnerships and invite formal support for protecting the river. At the same time, businesses will be encouraged to display window stickers, showing their commitment to conservation and helping to create a shared sense of responsibility. In high-traffic areas, clear signage on public bins will serve as behavioural nudges to reduce littering at key points.
We’re proud to support the Great Brak River Conservancy in this initiative and look forward to seeing how it brings people and businesses together to protect and care for the Great Brak River.
