Brothers Coffee Roastery began as a labour of love between Ben Ferreira and his wife, Sunel, who spent over a decade living amidst the rich coffee cultures of Uganda and South Sudan. Their passion for that perfect, freshly roasted bean led them home to Great Brak River, where they planted roots and transformed a small‐scale hobby into a thriving roastery. From sourcing green coffee through direct-trade relationships with East African farmers to ensure transparent pricing that returns fair value to growers, Brothers Coffee has always put people at the heart of every cup.
Stepping into their Great Brak River facility, you’ll find precision roasters, professional espresso machines, and a welcoming café space where the community gathers. Here, guests taste rotating single-origin lots and signature blends, like the fruity Bugolobi or their surprise seasonal roast, while learning about bean-to-cup craftsmanship. Every batch is freshly roasted on-site, ensuring each cup delivers the full spectrum of flavour locked within the bean.
Sustainability is woven into every thread of Brothers Coffee’s story. The hessian sacks that transport their green beans find a second life: generously donated to volunteer groups, such as the Great Brak River Conservancy, for planting, clean-ups, and other conservation projects. This up-cycling of biodegradable jute not only diverts waste from landfills but strengthens partnerships that protect our precious Garden Route environment.
Brothers Coffee has become a household name with several coffee shops around Mossel Bay and coffee provided to independent coffee shops around the GCBR region.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Ben, Sunel, and the entire Brothers Coffee Roastery family for joining the Friends of the Biosphere programme as a Hero. Your commitment to quality, direct-trade sourcing, community, and conservation helps to create a brighter, greener future for all.
